Cricket World Cup 2007 - A walk down the memory lane...

WC 2007, what should have been a great sporting spectacle turned out to be a farcial event for many reasons - on and off the field. And it got the final it deserved - a total mayham and chaos.

Yet, it had it's moment, some of which will never be forgotten.

Let's take a walk down the memory lane...

This was what they were all fighting for...

Mahela during the opening ceremony

And the night went on...

Pose for a pic...

And the WC gets under way...

Dwayne Leverock of Bermuda, he became something of a celebrity...

Gibbs hits one of his record breaking six 6s off one over...

Attempting a run...

Banga boys creates the first major upset, giving Indians a real thrashing...

Soon the Irish followed by handing Pakis their asses...

And Inzi in tears after Woolmers death... one of the many sad things this WC will forever be remembered for...

You don't need to be in shape to be a Jonty...

An asshole - by every sense of the word... It's just a game, for fuck's sake you idiot...

And Freddy decided he also wanted to be on the spotlight... sacked of his vice captaincy after reported of being drunk before a game... that man is never short of drama!

And the English media has a field day...

Old warrior Inzi walks off after his final innings... what a career it has been...

Toss for the all important game SL vs India

The captain left wondering as the wickets kept falling...

A sorry sight, after India being kicked off the WC...

Even more sorrier sight... heroes become villains in an instance...
Get over it freaks!!! IT'S JUST A GAME!!!

And back in India, Dravid's house needed police protection - I really feel for the Indians...

Meanwhile, Aussies continued to dominate everyone...

Gibbs runs Chamara Silva out... Brings back memories of Inzi - Jonty runout back in '92...

Malinga gets four in four to set a new world record...

And gave hope to a seemingly lost game...

But the Saffers avoid a great choke just by a breadth of a hair... yes, literally... the ball after the fourth wicket missed the stumps by just that margin...

And Ponting rolls his arm over... just in case...

A World Cup played in front of empty seats... how good the ICC is...

Inzi pays his last respect for Woolmer, back in Pakistan...

Meanwhile, the old man makes a brilliant century against Windies...

And the Aussies manage to find some time to relax...

A thrilling end to a thrilling game... Fernando bowls Bopara in the last ball of a great game...

And Richie Richardson enjoys some beach cricket...

Bangladesh creates another upset by beating Saffers...

KP makes a brilliant century against Aussies, but it's all to no avail...

And Sanga tries to choke Malinga to death... for some reason...

Vaasy gets his bunny Fleming for like the millionth time or something...

The Irish signs off in style by beating Banga boys...

Two of the most talked about figures in the WC - Malinga and Tait...

Great man Lara walks in for a one last time...

But it was cut short by Samuels the Party Pooper who ran Lara out...

So he walks off... for the last time... another great career comes to an end...

He was never short of fans...

So was Mali...

All important toss for the semi final...

Mahela on his way to what would be an epic century...

And he gets there in style...

Then Mali destroys the Kiwis to take SL to the final...

And the Saffers manages to choke their way out of the WC, again... nobody can challenge them for that chokers title...

The two captains pose for a photo with the cup... who will have it?

Back in Sri Lanka, the fans have some fun...

After the all important toss...

But the rain interrupts...

Gilly starts a murderous innings...

And Fernando drops him - and probably the WC too...

Gilly thrashing the SL attack...

Reaches his hundred... squash ball or not, it was one hell of an innings...

But Sana and Sanga keeps the hopes alive...

Until the rain came...

Then Sana had to go...

And the Aussies thought they won it - before umpires decided to add one last farcial to already a messed up tournament...

But Mahela agrees it's over...

And finally, Aussies with the cup - the deserved winners...
